Geological Science
❖ If we think about what a good education and a good job are, the first thing that comes to many of our minds is Engineering and Medicine. For the past few years, the same has been the mindset of everyone joining those courses. Every year, lakhs of people come out with Degree certificates. This created fierce competition in the respective sectors. Despite having a good percentage in the studies, many students are unable to get a good job in their field of interest.

One of those courses that stands first on the list is Geological Science. Those who complete this course can excel in both the public and private sectors. Good opportunities are available for Geologists in the fields such as Mineral Research, Fuel Exploration, Mining and Water Storage Surveys. Many Job opportunities in Central Government Institutions are also available as well. Those who do not want to do a job can start their own office as a Geologist.
❖ The Science of studying the earth is called 'Geology'. The name "Geology" comes from the Greek words geo (earth), logos (science). It is a combination of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. This includes the study of Geological physics to examine changes taking place on the Earth's surface. There are many disciplines such as Energy, Minerals, Geology, Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Rocks- Fossils, Mines, Geochemical studies in Geology.
Educational Opportunities:
❖ Many Universities and Training Institutes offer Degree, PG and Ph.D courses in Geological Sciences. Those who have completed Intermediate or Eequivalent qualification with 50% marks are eligible to do B.Sc General or Honors course in Degree.
❖ Those who have completed the degree with 50% marks in Geological Science can do PG (Master Degree) course. Those who have secured 55% marks in Master Degree are eligible to do Ph.D (Doctorate). The admissions process for the above courses is different for each university.
